Professional Development Fund
Introduction:
King County Nurses Association is committed to supporting KCNA members with funds to attend continuing nursing education. The purpose of the project is to assist members who do not receive educational funding through their employer and to promote continued nursing education among members.
Courses must be provided by an approved accredited organization (ex. ANCC, AANP, CEU’s approved by the CA Board of Nursing, or CME certified) with contact hours awarded. Recipients will be randomly selected twice per year and notified of the selection within two weeks of the application deadline.
Applications deadlines are October 1 and March 1. We will annually fund a total of 10 awards of $500 each.
Criteria:
- Must be a WSNA/KCNA member.
- Funds must be used for continuing nursing education.
- Courses must be provided by an approved accredited organization (ex. ANCC, AANP, CEU’s approved by the CA Board of Nursing, or CME certified) with contact hours awarded.
Details:
- Amount awarded: up to $500 with a total of 10 awards per year. There will be a fall and spring deadline with five awards offered for each time frame. Total budget: $5,000 (Funds are available to cover tuition, transportation, and/or lodging).
- Applications will be accepted twice a year. Deadlines: Oct 1 (for offerings January 1-June 30) & March 1 (for offerings July 1-December 31).
- Winners will be randomly selected and notified within two weeks of the application deadlines.
- Reimbursement will take place after proof of attendance and/or completion of the course. Reimbursement must be requested within 30 days of the completion of the event.
- Online courses must be completed within 6 months.
